We strengthen the adaptive capacity of young people in Kampala's ghetto communities to withstand climate shocks—including urban heat waves, floods, and food insecurity. Through the construction and maintenance of drainage trenches, we reduce flood risk; through urban food gardens and public green spaces, we improve food security and lower local temperatures. Crucially, we link these efforts to livelihoods by incubating youth-led enterprises that sustain the environment and the incomes of participating in young people.
