Urban farming: Katwe residents leave no space to waste By Nakandi Mastula

The level of urbanisation in Uganda is currently estimated at 24%. Population growth comes
with the need for more food and land for settlement for the urban dwellers.
The community members of Kasule zone in Katwe, a Kampala suburb, are circumventing the
challenge of limited spaces in urban areas by practising gardening even in the smallest of
spaces, so as to be able to get food, as well as sell the surplus to the ever increasing number of
