When the Ghetto Go Green project was launched in Kamwanyi, a suburb of Kampala, the implementers
of the project faced an uphill task convincing the community to embrace it.
There were calls for the people to green their environments, for instance their compounds, by planting
trees and establishing urban gardens. In many of the homes where the objectives of the project were
introduced to the community, the reception was lukewarm.
However, the situation took a different turn recently when the second wave of COVID-19 hit Uganda.
